Description:

The Emerald Observatory offers a comprehensive display of astronomical information, all conveniently accessible on one screen. It presents this data in a unique yet easily understandable format. The range of information provided includes:
<ul>
<li>12- and 24-hour ordinary clock time</li>
<li>Times of sunrise and sunset for the Sun, Moon, and the 5 classical planets</li>
<li>Times of the beginning and ending of twilight</li>
<li>Heliocentric orrery, showcasing the planets in orbit around the Sun</li>
<li>Altitude and azimuth for each celestial body (one body at a time)</li>
<li>Current phase, apparent orientation, and relative size of the Moon</li>
<li>Current regions of day and night displayed on a world map</li>
<li>The Equation of Time, solar time, UTC time, and sidereal time</li>
<li>Month, day, year, and leap-year indicator</li>
<li>Daily alarm feature (delivered as local notification on iOS 4+ if app is not running)</li>
<li>Eclipse simulator</li>
<li>All displayed times are synchronized via NTP to "atomic clock" standard</li>
<li>iPad location is used by default, but latitude and longitude may be set manually</li>
</ul>

The app also offers a setting that allows the display to remain on continuously. Additionally, users can tap on the display to move forward in time by a month, day, year, hour, or minute. Note: NTP functionality requires Internet access. Like all apps, Emerald Observatory cannot modify your device's internal clock.
